I am a complete novice in this area, can anyone guide me to the best share dealing account available and shares to invest in.

Thank you in advance!

My advice would be to do some proper research and plenty of reading first.

The stock market is a bit of a gamble at the best of times. If you're a novice and you can't wait then you could go for a managed fund that has at least a half decent track record while you're learning about different strategies, asset classes, stock valuations etc. You'll pay for the priviledge and there are still no guarantees but it sounds a lot safer than what you're currently considering.

I'd have to go for
iii.co.uk or Sippdeal for shares/investment trusts (maybe funds too) or
Hargreaves Lansdown, Bestinvest or Alliancesavings for funds.
Checkout the charges on them all though. For example Alliance savings charge annually and even for fund purchases but rebate all commisions etc.

Many thanks for your comments, I have looked into this and I think I will be going with HL.

I'm not planning on investing my life savings or anything and I wont be using what I cant afford to loose.
