When you say searched 22 times are you certain they are all searches following credit applications, if so you were mad to apply to submit so many applications.
If you wish to obtain credit you have to be more considered.
I suggest no more than 1 application per month.
The first thing you need to ensure is that every credit search caused by credit applications relates to a particular application.
It is not unknown for lenders to incorrectly apply multiple searches for one application.
The other thing you need to be aware of is that only searches for credit should you concern yourself with.
There are many searches that are carried out for ID verification.
These searches may only be seen by yourself and the organisation who applied the searches.
You need to be aware that criminal insurers like Aviva apply a credit search to your file even though you are just obtaining a quote.
This will have a detrimental effect on your file.
So every time you use an organisation ensure that if you are NOT applying for credit that you instruct that you are looking for a quotation only and no recorded credit search is to be applied to your credit file.
You therefore won't bother using Aviva will you?
There are other insurers that indulge in this criminal practise, so you need to be aware when you are obtaining insurance quotes that a search will not be a recorded credit search which can be seen by other lenders just an ID verification which is OK.
You must ensure that ALL 3 of your credit files are correct.
Join the free Noddle service which allows you to access your Callcredit file for nothing.
It costs nothing to be a member and you receive updated credit files.
The other thing to do before applying for credit is to enquire to the lender as to which credit reference agencies they would use for the product you are considering applying for with them.
Then on the application for the credit facility, only put down on the form what is showing on that credit reference agency's file.
This is because the info is not always the same with the different agencies.
Only give them the info that their credit agency will provide them with.
Always keep copies of the information you supply on application forms as the companies use National Hunter where they compare information given on previous applications.
If you have been subject to fraud in the past you may for a small cost apply to CIFAS for protective registration which means the lender has to carry out additional checks to prevent fraud.
This is normally carried out for free by a lender if you have been subject to fraud with them.
Every 6 months obtain your statutory reports from Experian and Equifax; £2.00 each; the ffree Noddle service covers the callcredit file, so you don't need a statutory report as you have free 24 hr access to it online.
Ensure you are not financially associated with anyone if you do have any joint financial accounts.
You complete forms for this.
Make sure you are on the electoral roll.
Any missed payment history which is incorrect get amended.
The lenders are incompetent so you will have to chase them when they have made mistakes.
Use the NOC process aswell if needed.
Before you make any application for credit it is always worthwhile spending £2.00 if that is one ot the agencies that charge for files are going to be used by the lender you are applying to.
Bear in mind that your credit file data is always about 2 months or less out of date.
This is because lenders send data on a monthly basis and the credit agencies have up to 28 days to amend your records upon receipt of that information.
So if you pay a debt off leave it 2 months before you apply so that the next search will see that you have a reduced or £0 balance.
