the last word-maybe

Wanda's dishwasher had just broken down -
So she called a repair man-who coincidently had just found £20 in a hole in the wall-
And since she had to go to work the next day, she told the repairman,

'I'll leave the key under the mat. Fix the dishwasher,
leave the bill on the counter, and I'll mail you a cheque.'

Oh, by the way don't worry about my dog Spike. He won't bother you.

But, whatever you do, do NOT, under ANY circumstances, talk to my parrot!'
'I MUST STRESS TO YOU: DO NOT TALK TO MY PARROT!!!'

When the repairman arrived at Wanda's apartment the following day, he discovered the biggest,
meanest looking dog he has ever seen. But, just as she had said, the dog just lay there
on the carpet watching the repairman go about his work..
The parrot, however, drove him nuts the whole time with his incessant yelling, cursing and name calling.
Finally the repairman couldn't contain himself any longer and yelled,
'Shut up, you stupid, ugly bird!'

To which the parrot replied,

'Get him Spike!'

See - that will teach him not to hand the £20 in ..lol

Can anyone help me please? I went to a cashpoint this Tuesday morning, but got distracted and walked away without taking my £20. Who should I contact to try and recover it?

I found a wallet, £25 in it with a bank card & credit card did, the honest thing and phoned the bank left them my phone number for the owner to contact me.

It turn out the owners were a newly married couple with a young daughter and in a low paid jobs, he was a cleaner and she worked as a barmaid in the evenings and the money was the weekend shopping money for the family.

Know what the man and his wife came to my house to thank me and shake my hand, did it make me feel good
YES

Just think next time if you find some money.

There is no way on earth I would hand £20 back to a bank, id spend it!

Its a whole different ball game of course if you find someone's purse or wallet, you will more than likely be able to find its owner using their id etc..

There is a crime of "theft by finding".
I once spotted £30 sticking out of an ATM at work. I posted an alert on the company computer notice board not revealing the amount. I was contacted by half a dozen people who guessed the wrong amount. I was also contacted by security asking me to give it to them to hold - I declined.
I put a notice on the ATM the same day with my details. After a month I spent it down the pub.

Way back, in the early 1940s, when I was about seven years old, I found an envelope in the street containing £3.10s which, at that time, was near enough a week's wages. It was just outside an office, so I went in and handed over the envelope.

About two days later, the manageress of the office called at our house and gave me a cricket bat "for my honesty".

As a child, I was thrilled but even more so some many years later when I learned that the bat had belonged to her son, who had only recently been killed in action during the war.

Honesty does pay, but I wonder how many children today would hand in a week's pay packet? Most, I hope and believe.
