I saw the following warning which may be of interest;

"HMRC are strongly advising customers to look out for a new phishing scam in the form of an e-mail with the subject, ‘Your 2016 Tax Report’, with an attachment."

Citywide readers are savvy enough not to get caught out by this, but others might, particularly if they are not used to dealing with HMRC. Hence this warning post.

Thanks, Old Timer. Over the years there have been frequent fraudulent e-mails from HMRC; usually offering a rebate if you click the link etc. Simply delete them.

More generally, NEVER click on an attachment or executable link, unless you know the sender is genuine.

That's good advice.

Also make sure

1. Your OS is up to date.

2. You have decent anti virus software loaded.

There are some good ones for free.
