I mainly do day trading in FTSE 100 stocks only and I do this on the basis of technical analysis.

For today I have chosen these stocks:

TUI AG: Trend line is giving me selling side for Target 1177.

LON:MERL Selling strength for Target level 437.

LON:IAG Sell for target level 520.

Comment and tell me your views.

Since you Day-trade, which brokerage sharedealing co. do you use?
Or anybody out there--can answer. I looking for a cheap sharedealing co. which also has Bond trading platform. Thanks.

You were brave going long on Tesco, but at least it finished positive. Only one of two FTSE100 shares to achieve that today.

On a better day this would have motored past your target.

interesting calls.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that about 80% of day trading gamblers lose the lot in the long run, rather like the bookies' customers.

Whereas almost all LTBH investors make solid gains.

Relying on the analysis of others is a dubious procedure. If those others owned the philosopher's stone they would certainly keep the knowledge to themselves.

What will they do with all the knowledge?

They cannot trade on every analysis.

Judging by forum members' responses (or lack of) to these day-trading comments by Tayal Smith, day-trading is very much a minority interest for this forum - and probably just as well!

The whole idea only looks suitable for those with deep pockets and cash to burn.

I can't say I've noticed market veterans such as Neil Woodford, Terry Smith or Nick Train trying to outguess the market at such a detailed level, so perhaps they know something that day traders have not yet learned?

Perhaps those wanting to indulge in day trading should join Gamblers Anonymous and/or set up their own separate website on which to place their posts, while the rest of us Stay Calm and Carry On.

Caveat emptor! (If you go in for day trading, you might be on the wrong side of an undeclared trade made by people who promote ideas)

I suppose really I ought to be extremely grateful to day traders, and short selling fund managers, for creating the volatility in individual shares that I seem to profit from.

Tayal's short on Sainsbury gained my attention this morning. So I sliced a bit of profit off a rapidly growing UU and topped up yet further our holdings in my favourite supermarket at roughly the time its afternoon low was reached. I wonder if Tayal closed his trade at that point?

I am now well in profit with a much bigger stake in Sainsbury than I ever held, and simply note that the last time I took profits from it was just under 400p. I guess I might start slicing profits off it even before it reaches those dizzy heights again. Or perhaps not. And in a fortnight I will have the biggest ever dividend from that supermarket to part-reinvest. I do hope that Tayal keeps posting his inspirational short deals.
