It is a known fact that pension funds have been under performing the last 15 years or so and the vast majority of pension funds has struggled to keep up with inflation. According to a survey conducted by Morningstar on April 30th, 2012, 94.81% of all pension funds during the last 10 years offered less than 5% return p.a. before charges and fees had been deducted. The average annual fees are around 3% p.a. meaning that in real terms 94.81% of all pension funds during the last 10 years offered less than 2% p.a. Taking these statistics into account, how much will you have to retire on ?
