Hello Tom,
Return Vs safety. EWI seems to give better return as compared to FRCL but latter safer.

The Citywiire email led me to expect a discussion on EWI vs FCS (FRCL is a diifferent cup of tea).
Definitely recent performance has favoured EWI, and it seems to have the wind behind it. FCS seems to have dropped off a bit in performance recently..
Can I add JUSC to the mix?

I've had FCS on my watchlist for a while, as it's been recommended on here, but after having another look at it today, it appears that 7 of the top 10 investments are other ITs/Funds which will add to charges. EWI has done a lot better over 5 years but could rotation mean that FCS might do better than EWI in the future? Any other suggestions for global smaller companies?

EWI is my preferred exposure to disruptive tech trends, and I'd definitely choose it over FCS, For more general global small cap exposure I dip in and out of Vanguard Global Small Cap Index - which has matched FCS, at least over the past 5 years, and, as a tracker it's considerably cheaper. Over the long term FCS may differentiate itself, but with such a large number of holdings that may be a bit of a gamble?

Edinburgh World Inv (EWI ), a small co inv Vs Foreign & Colonial IT (FRCL) is not
HL website shows most are selling Vs most buying
Today share price up Vs down

My largest GLOBAL investments in Investment trust are; SMT 10%, Berkshire Hathway ( FRCL) 7 %, EWI !%.
Of funds Fundsmith 19%, Train global 5%,BG global discovery 3%,

I am trying to increase investments in EWI & FRCL, hence this comparison requested. May be Alan Selwood and colleagues may join in.
Thanks,
Satish

FCS has been a core holding of mine for decades. Manager Peter Ewins has done a good job and never gets a mention!

Why would you want Global Discovery and EWI? They are the same holdings almost exactly, that's the point, EWI is just the trust equivalent of Global Discovery.
