It is disgusting that with all the supposed technology available these scammers can't be shut down in hours. Pls tell your elderly parents to just be rude & put the phone down. I caught my Father talking to some sort of company a year ago. I had to grab the phone from him & told him off!! He now enjoys himself telling them to bgr off & immediately puts phone down.

Installed Talk-Talk Callsafe a few weeks ago - all scam calls immediately stopped. Not sure why but the scammers don't even bother to ring anymore.
Exceeded all expectations. Brilliant.

When next registering so you can vote, remember to choose the option which blocks your info from being sold on to marketing firms. This should cut down at least some of the scammers.
Also register with the Mail & Telephone Preference Services, and then you know that if ANYONE contacts you out of the blue, they are going to be either abroad and exempt from the usual rules or UK-based, dishonest money-grabbers. No decent firm will contact you if the MPS and TPS are registered on your details.
