It's happening – fleets of driverless lorries are being trialled on at least one British motorway next year .. GM and Lyft are also deploying driverless cars in 2018.

The big car companies seem to be aiming for 2020 (Tokyo summer olympics) to get their own driverless vehicles on the roads

Deutsche Post AG's DHL said Tuesday it has preordered 10 of Tesla Inc.'s Semi trucks, joining a growing list of large transportation companies looking to test the all-electric vehicles.

The technology for self driving cars is here already, and has been for a couple of years. The issues are legal and regulatory.

Just to revive this thread, I noticed that in the in the latest holdings listed for SMT as of 30th November Tesla is just below 6% and the 6th largest holding. Pretty sure at one time last year it was nearly 8% and the second largest holding. I wonder if this is an indication hat SMT have started selling Tesla, or just the effect of it being diluted by the performance of other holdings?

Even more unconvinced of the business case for Tesla now that Model 3 production is even more delayed.
